The Kerry Film Forum connects and supports filmmakers, writers, directors, media professionals and independent artists through dialogue and creative engagement. The forum plans to present films, community events, multidisciplinary performances, and group discussions. Our aim is to be inclusive, progressive and artist focused - supporting film and media makers at all stages of their development.

The first  meeting of the Kerry Film Forum took place in January 2020 at ANAM Arts & Cultural Centre Killarney and was hosted by film artists Mieke Vanmechelen and Sean Rea. The availability of a dedicated meeting space was foundational in the establishment of the Kerry Film Forum and the support received from Kerry County Council made this possible. With the outbreak of the global Covid-19 pandemic, the progression of the forum has had to be carefully considered, and now also operates online. While the format has had to adapt, the core concept remains unchanged.

The Kerry Film Forum strives to nurture creativity and serve as cultural anchor for its members

We would like to have the opportunity to invite participation from established filmmakers, directors and writers, as well as fostering links with film festivals and cultural organisations in Kerry. As we are a young organisation, the aspiration is to have national and international reach, connecting with filmmakers and aligning with groups and organisations with a similar ethos.

The vision is to host screenings and events where filmmakers can be in attendance to present their work or present and discuss work that is relevant to their practice. We would also like to give emerging artists the opportunity to show their films for the first time in a mutually supportive environment.
